A Vinekin's Revenge (pt. 4): Through Everveil Hollow

Image
For a split second, Morgwen forgot where she is. She opens her eyes and stares up at the ceiling and feels the weight of a warm blanket on her. That's right, we are at the guard post tower...  she thinks to herself. The sharp sound of snoring startles her. She looks over her shoulder and notices Salo and Felix across the room deep asleep in separate bunks. And of course, it was Salo snoring so loudly.  She sits up in her bed, stretches out her arms and realizes that she feels more refreshed than usual. Wow, I have not had that good of a sleep in a long time. Just as she was about to stand up, she hears Felix tossing and turning restlessly in his bunk. She can hear him talking to himself nervously, seeming anxious. Morgwen walks over to Salo's bunk and wakes him up, "Salo, come on. Get up. It's the morning." Rolling his eyes, he glares at Morgwen and sighs, while pulling the blanket over his face, "Can we not just sleep in a little bit longer?" She lift...

Some Context On How I Personally Play: One thing I've noticed about preparation for my sessions is that after I build out my world (regions, towns, factions, villains, etc.) I always write out the beginning, middle and end of my campaign. I tend to play linear/scripted, meaning I already have certain scenarios that I want my character to go through. There is nothing wrong with that at all! But, I started to miss that "element of surprise" and wanted to try to just play and let the story unfold and actually "get to know" my character. That is something I am learning playing my most recent CAIRN campaign, "A Vinekin's Revenge." I'm learning about my PC Morgwen and how she's quite reserved, but she tries to take charge. She's a bit shy, but she slowly learns to make a friend. I'm honestly enjoying her growth and character development more than other characters I created because of the "element of surprise." I don't have...

A Vinekin's Revenge (pt. 3): Bandits... Again

Image
We need to act fast... we shouldn’t have trusted her… Morgwen can hear the conversation between Micah and the group of bandits grow louder. She overhears Micah complaining, "This is all you're paying me? Fine. Just go to the wagon; they're in there." Footsteps steadily growing in intensity, her heart starts to race and her palms begin to sweat. She jumps to the front of the wagon grabbing the reins of Elise, Micah's horse. She turns back at Salo, "Quick, find anything in this wagon that you think could distract these bandits." The merchant acts quickly without any delay and starts rummaging through Micah's belongings. He pulls out books, bags of dried herbs, and ancient scrolls written in a strange language he can't seem to interpret. He starts to panic, "There's literally nothing in here we can use! And she's supposed to be a wizard! I'd imagine we would find potions or something." Morgwen commands Elise to jolt forward c...

Solo MTG: My FIRST Commander Deck is Complete! 🧝

Image
Lathril is an AMAZING Commander, and I see why she's a popular pick! I just officially played Commander for the first time the other day against one of my challenge decks, DEFEAT A GOD (Xenagos Ascended). I have been learning so much about this build and I think I'm starting to understand her abilities a lot better now! You can see my full playthrough on YouTube here . But, a few things that I have learned (shoutout to the MTG community on YT for helping me out :D) are listed below: 1. I have been using Lathril wrong! So, when she deals damage to a player, she creates that SAME AMOUNT of 1/1 Elf creature tokens. Imagine combining that with Beastmaster Ascension... she has the opportunity to create 7 of those 1/1 Elf creature tokens!!! Honestly, at the end of the playthrough I probably would have ended up with 9 Elf creature tokens and I could've CRUSHED Xenagos and his nasty little Revelers. 👹 Then, if I had a total of 10 elves on the field, I could have activated her ot...
