2 Board Game Stores to Check Out in Austin, TX

So, as most of you know I was helping my sister move to Austin, TX! And you know what that means... it's time to EXPLORE and check out some BOARD GAME STORES!

1. Tanuki Games

Shoutout to my Instagram board game buddies for recommending this cool little board game store. This particular spot LITERALLY has any and every kind of game you can think of. They have a bunch of new releases, various expansions, lots of games imported from Japan, etc. They have so much, you might feel overwhelmed when you come in, but I swear it's a "good" overwhelming feeling haha.

They also carry a bunch of TTRPGs and TCGs, you can find so much in here. The store itself is a bit small, so if you do want to avoid feeling "cramped," I recommend to check out their online store and look at their stock so then you can just pick it up when you get there!

The board game I purchased from here is... Ironwood. I am a big fan of area-control, skirmish board games, so I took a chance on it and heard great things about it! If you are interested in my review, check out my post below!

2. Bat City Games & Comics

As the name implies, this is a great spot if you love both board games AND comics! A big spacious spot with tables (and bathrooms!!!) for folks who want to play with their friends. I love their selection of comics, everything from Marvel to DC and even manga! They also sell Funko if you like to collect those little figurines. They have a bunch of TCGs as well. If you go to the counter, they sell a small selection of singular MTG cards too for $1 each.

They sell classic games too like Ticket to Ride, Splendor, Codenames, Catan, etc. Lot of great family and party board games! This is honestly a great spot for nerds in general!

The board game that my sister got for me from here is... Raiders of Scythia. I absolutely LOVE this light-medium worker-placement/resource-management/tableau board game. Check out my review below for more of my thoughts!

Overall, a very fun trip checking out these 2 stores and just having time to explore, play fun games, and eat AMAZING food. I am excited to go back here to hang with the sis again! Til next time!
